The real-life Warakubune is not wallpapered. In fact, I don’t even have a clear memory of what the interior looked like back in the day when we were eating there weekly, other than it having fairly sterile decor. However, I found some photos online of a remodel they’ve done since I moved away from the neighborhood, and I’ve taken inspiration for my color scheme from those images.
Like my other 2-window shop, this kit came with a 3/8″ strip on the top of the side walls but not the back wall, so I added this strip along the back wall and stained it red chestnut to match the rest of the trim. After I install the flooring, I’ll go back and add the baseboard and chair rail to the walls.
