Polymer Clay: Using Up Crackle Scraps

When I was making polymer clay Christmas ornaments over the holidays, I ended up with some scraps of crackle technique (Premo white on black clay). I had so much left over that I was able to make these three sets. Like my last clay projects, these will eventually become pendants and earrings, though I still haven’t gotten around to collecting the jewelry supplies I need.

Since my last crackle project, I’ve accumulated a few more gorgeous colors of alcohol ink. Each of these sets also features mica shift, for which I had a lot of fun mixing Premo pearl and metallic colors of clay to match the ink. All of the shapes were created with paper templates.

For this first set, I used Lisa Pavelka’s Foliage texture stamp to create the mica shift. It doesn’t show well in the photo, but the reverse side is a darker shade of green than the front.

Here, I used Lisa Pavelka’s Autumnal texture stamp for the mica shift. For the black stripe in the center, I created my own reverse Autumnal texture stamp, so that the end result would be an “outie” instead of an “innie.” I then highlighted the raised areas with Pearl Ex mica powder.

For this last set, I used the Kor roller Flames for the mica shift and Premo Twinkle Twinkle clay for the center stripe and edge.
