For the shelves, I cut four lengths of 1/8″ x 1″ bass wood, stained them golden oak, and sealed them with gloss varnish.
For the brackets, I cut and bent strips of 1/32″ x 1/8″ brass flat bar. I filed the ends to round them slightly.
I used 12-gauge aluminum wire to create decorative S-curves to give the appearance of a wrought-iron bracket.
I glued the wire to the flat bar…
…and spray-painted them black.
Then I glued the brackets to the shelves.
Finally, I glued the shelves to the walls.
