Shortly after I made the labels for my ten different flavors of gelato (which, as I was stunned to realize, was well over a year ago), I also made these spatulas…but somehow I forgot to post a picture! Around that time, I had also begun to experiment with mixing colors of polymer clay for the gelato, but that effort also got sidelined for about a year. Finally this year, I’ve resumed the gelato project, settling on the best color recipe for each flavor and beginning to sculpt the trays of gelato. I can’t describe how excited I am about it! So far, I’ve finished seven out of the ten flavors, but in the meantime, here is that neglected post on the spatulas.
Since the wide part of the spatula will be buried in the gelato, I felt it was only necessary to construct the handle. For this, I cut narrow strips of aluminum and covered the top in white polymer clay. The only tricky part was getting them to be approximately the same size and shape.
These look so awesome! I can't wait to see the finished project!
Thank you so much! I hope to be finished with the gelato by next week, so you can expect a post with photos then. I'm so excited about this one!
