Gastronomia Furlan: Rosetta Rolls

The rosetta (a.k.a. michetta) is a traditional Italian bread roll shaped like a flower and is a popular choice for making panini. For my mini rosetta rolls, I used the same color mix as for all my other white bread projects: Fimo vanilla, Fimo Soft sahara, Premo white, and translucent. After sculpting the shapes, I used a toothbrush, needle tool, and crumpled aluminum foil for texture and then shaded them with soft pastels for a golden-brown baked effect.

After baking, I sealed them with Helmar Crystal Kote Matte spray varnish, so that the pastels wouldn’t rub off. Here’s a closeup of one of the rolls.

Only two more trays to go!
