Bread knots are probably my favorite style of bread to bake in real life, so I was looking forward to making some in miniature. I made the butternut squash knots using the same color mix as my other butternut squash bread projects (braided loaves and dinner rolls): Premo ecru, cadmium yellow, white, and translucent. I formed the knots by rolling a rope of clay and gently looping it into a knot. Like my other butternut squash breads, I added raisins and walnuts. My texturing and shading process was also much the same.
Here’s a closeup of one of the rolls.
I made the whole wheat knots using the same color mix as my other whole wheat bread projects (rolls and dinner rolls): Fimo Soft sahara and Premo translucent, with grated flecks of baked brown polymer clay mixed in. For contrast between these two types of knots, which will be displayed together in the same tray, I added only walnut pieces (no raisins) to the whole wheat knots.
Here’s a closeup.
Another tray added to the shelves!
