The above photo shows this enoteca’s second sign that reads “Vini al Bottegon.” To recreate it in miniature, I started by Photoshopping the text and printing it onto white paper. I then built a frame from 1/16″-thick bass wood and glued the printed sign on two sides, with plain paper on the ends.
Next, I attached pieces of clear polycarbonate plastic on all four sides, along with 1/6″ bass wood painted black for the top and bottom. To make the shaft, I used a section of round aluminum tube, which I bent to 90 degrees near the point of attachment and then spray-painted black. In order to make the attachment more secure, I drilled a hole in the top piece of wood and inserted a jewelry headpin from underneath. I cut the pin to fit inside the bent portion of the shaft and then glued it in place. I also inserted some sturdy wire cut from another head pin into the long portion of the shaft, which will help secure it to the wall.
For the trim, I used 1/32″ balsa wood cut into strips and painted black.
To install the sign, I drilled a hole in the wall and inserted the pin, securing it with a bit of glue.
