Osteria Al Vecchio Stallo: Tablecloths

I love the traditional look of red-checked tablecloths in Italian restaurants. At the real-life Osteria Al Vecchio Stallo, most tables have a red-and-yellow plaid cloth underneath the red check (see the above photo), but it was easier for me to find just plain red fabric. The problem was finding a red fabric soft enough to drape over the edge of the tables. The fabric shown in the photos is the second type I tried, and I had to iron creases into the corners so that they wouldn’t stick straight out. It’s not perfect, though much better than the stiff cotton I got initially. If I ever come across some better material, maybe I’ll redo them someday.
