Sweet Shop: Pies

When I was in my late 20s, I got my sweet shop out of storage and set it up in my tiny studio apartment. Having experimented with polymer clay as a child, I was excited to try my hand at making miniature polymer clay sweets as an adult. Unfortunately, I didn’t have much time to devote to this hobby (nor, as I’m learning now, all the proper tools and materials), and I only ended up creating a few items. These pies were the best things I made during this period. My then-boyfriend (now-husband) made the first one, a cherry pie, using a bottle cap for the pie dish. Following his technique, I then made eight more pies: pumpkin, pecan, blueberry, peach, lemon meringue, key lime, chocolate cream, and apple (although with the full top crust, this last one could really be any type of fruit pie). Looking at them now, they seem rather rudimentary, but at the time I was extremely proud of myself!
