Osteria Al Vecchio Stallo: Postcards & Newspaper Clippings

This week I’ve been gradually mounting all the decorative elements to the walls of Osteria Al Vecchio Stallo. In doing so, I realized I hadn’t posted anything about these yet. In the real restaurant, scattered among the framed pictures and other decor, are a melange of family and staff photos, postcards, newspaper clippings, and miscellaneous mementos of bygone years. I’ve recreated a few things to capture the spirit of homeyness and charming clutter.

I made the postcards using my own photos of Udine, Photoshopped in the style of postcards and only 1/2″ long. I got the family photos from the Facebook pages of the restaurant and of my friend Vittoria, who is the chef’s daughter and a former waitress. The newspaper clippings were reduced from actual articles about Al Vecchio Stallo, and the poem was also pulled from their photos on Facebook. I covered these last items with self-adhesive laminate to protect the paper.
